THE FIRST FULL SUSPENSION FROM A PUREBRED LINE OF SUPER SLACK & LONG FRAMES

The Switch9er FS is the evolution of our ‘Switch’ range. Holding the same aggressive intent as our award-winning Switchback and our fresh to the market Switch9er Ti. The Switch9er FS is a 29er, 140mm rear travel and 160mm front travel Trail Slayer. The aim of the Switch9er FS was to design and manufacture in house the most well engineered, playful natured, confidence inspiring, aggressive 29er full-suspension frame we possibly could.

SUSPENSION ARRANGEMENT

We looked at all various suspension platforms and decided to go with a Dual Link Pivot System for the base of this design, as we felt the more complex and technical suspension arrangement would reap benefits out on the trail.

The System, allows for a small amount of rear wheel movement backwards through the wheels suspension arc. This manifests itself as incredible ‘small bump control’ due to the small amount of rear wheel movement creating the feeling of a ‘rounding off’ of all hard edges on the trail.

The frame is also designed with a naturally progressive shock rate, meaning that the frame offers a greater amount of rear wheel movement at the start of the Wheel Path and naturally ramps up towards the end. This suspension style lends itself naturally to Big Can air-shock’s and Coil Shocks.  These two design aspects offer the frame incredible small bump control and a naturally occurring progressive ‘ramping’ giving a brilliant bottomless feel to the suspension actuation.

DESIGN ETHOS & MATERIALS

MORE INFO

When designing our Hardtails one of our most important considerations is how the frame supports lateral stiffness. Bracing the torsional stress generated via the riders pedal strokes and weight when cornering, offers  a much more instantaneous acceleration, as none of the riders energy is wasted in lateral movement.

In order to keep the design aesthetic and performance  in line with the other models in our range, we decided to go with the Triple-butted Reynolds 631 DZB seamless front triangle off our Stiffest Hardtail, the Switchback.

For a suspension frame the ideals are, stiffness to maintain geometry, power transfer and lightness to reduce unsprung weight.

This is why we also use fully CNC’d 6082-T6  aluminium linkage parts, the top one being linked via another Steel CNC’d part that nestles in and is welded in to the ‘top tube’ and ‘seat tube’ juncture, offering a 300mm bracing section from an already well braced bottom bracket and the first pivot part.

We then Further designed out lateral stress by using two CNC’d 6082-T6  aluminum ‘Dogs Legs’ either side of the seat tube, connecting the two linkages together as the contact points for the rear triangle sections, which runs four custom drawn 6063-T6  aluminum tubes to meet our custom designed Switchback dropout swap-out system.

CUSTOMISATION OPTIONS

With our in house design, engineering and manufacturing team, creating and building the Switch9er FS at our unit in Matlock, we've opened up the possibility to customise geometry on the bike such as seat tube length, top tube length, head tube length. This will affect reach, stack, virtual top tube and actual top tube.

We've decided to test the largest version of this frame to make this possible. Meaning any variant under that size is covered under the CEN testing. With the bikes strength and durability in mind you can only choose one of the other lengths from the sizes we offer in the grid below. For instance if you bought a 15" frame but like a longer reach you could take the top tube length off the 18".

For anyone that wants to customise their geometry we realise they'll probably want to customise the paint. Therefore if you customise your geometry we'll upgrade you to custom decals and a paint from our elite range.

This is an optional extra that does come with a cost. Please get in touch to dicuss your needs for the bike.
